A Better Hope (Heb 7:11–28)
A Study of Hebrews: Lesson 19
This is a crucial passage in Hebrews since the themes of Jesus’ priesthood and the new covenant instituted by Jesus’ death are woven together into a beautiful tapestry. Our author makes two crucial points in verses 11–12: (1) The Law of Moses had to go since it couldn’t achieve its goal. (2) The Law of Moses had to go since it was tied to the levitical priesthood. But the rest of the passage is “unlocked” by the “key” of verse 28.
